MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT
Advancing Encouragement By:
[Bishop James Jr. Hairston]

2Corinthians: 12:9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Many of us have been or are going through tough times and if you haven’t just keep on living and sooner or later you will. Yet, not only was Paul going through but it was for a reason so that he would not exalt himself and glory in himself but to glory in God through his infirmities, verses 5-7. It is so easy for anyone who have received any lofty thing from God rather it be, a revelation from God caught up to the third heaven (verses 1, 2), blessings beyond measure, riches or wealth, praises from man, status and high positions or whatever is beyond the average man or woman (elevated in character and spirit: noble < lofty ideals> elevated in status: since of superiority in position) there is a subtlety of self glorying that can take over us. We have to be careful never to think it is about us when we are trying to prosper in life or to accomplish great things for God and for the people that we love. But if you are trying to impress others or trying to prove a point to exalt yourself, you are definitely out of the will of God. However, Paul had to be buffeted because of his exceeding greatness, (verse 7) with a thorn in his flesh and God used Satan imps a messenger to keep Paul in Check. People of God we need this at times that we too will look up to God rather to our greatness, our wealth, treasures, positions, prestige, or lofty ideas or visions and through it all we will learn to glory in our infirmities by the power of God. Therefore, if you are going through right now it maybe because God does not want you to focus on your accomplishments or whatever lofty thing He has given you to accomplish and to pursue because He wants you to depend on Him and make sure you give Him the glory, honor and praise for what God is doing in your life. Remember, He is omniscient meaning, all seeing and all knowing and He knows about what you can or cannot do and does not want you to get ahead of yourself or stuck on yourself. When we go through we learn how to make better decisions and learn how to depend on Him. Moreover, the world will know that it had to have been God working in your life because God said that His strength is made perfect in weakness. Where the world thinks you maybe weak the Lord will strengthen you and empower you to be strong in Him and in the power of His might, not yours! Paul said where he is weak then he is strong, verse 10, why because the power of Christ rest upon him, verse 9. The power Paul is talking about is the dunamis power, force, miraculous mighty power, worker of miracle and strength, and a mighty wonderful work. The power God had for Paul is the power he has for all believers to operate in if we believe. Today, trust God that His grace is sufficient for you and His power will rest upon you to accomplish what He has for you in Jesus Name…
