Advancing Encouragement By:
Bishop James Jr. Hairston
Acts: 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The idea behind this passage of scripture is receiving additional power to destroy the work of the Devil in order to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the world. This additional power was vital to the Apostles ministry so that the people receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will witness the dynamic gifts of the Holy Spirit… This power comes from the word Dunamis which means; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself):-- with the ability in abundance, performing mightily deeds, as a worker of miracles with power, strength, violence, as a mighty wonderful work. Now this violence means using this power with forcefulness, passion and fierceness. You will not have any fear at all under this power of the Holy Ghost and at the times of the original Apostles when this power was first given were many demonic spirits and workers of sorcery. This power today is also needed for the conquering of many evil, demonic workers of iniquity and witchcraft. Having this Dunamis power you will be able to defeat whoever and whatever comes up against you in the spirit. This is not physical weaponry but a powerful spiritual defensive and offensive weapon that will defeat all of your enemies in the realm of the heavenly, (we have many spiritual weapons including our offensive weapon praying in the Spirit in Ephesians 6: 10-18.) In addition, there are mighty and wonderful spiritual gifts in result of having this power for the building and structuring of the Kingdom of God, (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). Moreover, at the beginning of the uprising of the Kingdom of God the Lord’s Church is shown a glimpse of what was about to take place from the result of this Power called the day of Pentecost, (read chapter 2 of the Acts). We all possess this power yet, all have not tapped into this power that is waiting to explode within you under the guidance and power of the Holy Ghost! One reason why I know is when Paul told Timothy that God did not give us the spirit of fear but of Power and as I stop here with power, it is the same power that was given on the day of Pentecost, (2Timothy: 1:6: Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.) Notice Paul mentioned to Timothy about the stirring up the gift of God. Today my friend, you may need to have the gift of God stirred up within you. You have the gift of God but it may not be stirred up yet! Today my friend, do not be afraid of anything coming your way in the form of a weapon or opposition of any kind. Why, you have the power to defeat the enemy and to destroy the work of the Devil that may be in operation right now in your life or around you somewhere. He creates the atmosphere and with the Dunamis Power of the Holy Ghost that you possess Satan cannot and will not win. Today, you have the Power in Jesus Name…
