Advancing Encouragement By:
Bishop James Jr. Hairston
The idea here in the text, you are the light of the world comes from the thought you are the sun of the world. Light is translated from the Greek word phos meaning fire or light that has ray’s and illuminates such as the sun. Jesus Christ is the sun to a moral world as the natural sun is to a natural world. Jesus has referred to the sun being light of this world; Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world, John 11:19. Jesus Christ has put that same emphasis on His disciples you are the light of the world. It makes sense that Jesus Christ is talking about the moral world, to reveal and illuminate the immorality that we face in this life. When we do that people can see themselves for who they are in the flesh and that they need Jesus Christ to forgive and love them unconditionally. People will see that they need to be cleansed and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ death on the cross to be set free from the bondage of sin. Your light plays’ a very important part in this process to rid this world of immorality. You are the light of this immoral world. Jesus Christ placed another value on your life like was mentioned in yesterday’s daily encouragement, you are the most valuable person on the face of this earth! Why, Jesus called you the sun of this immoral world to give moral life through Him while the natural sun gives natural life that will soon come to an end. Jesus Christ whom you represent gives this moral life which is eternal living. Therefore, to be free from immorality gives you eternal life! Today be on FIRE for Jesus Christ lighting up the world with all of your gifts, talents but most importantly with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today express yourself as the walking gospel and at times you don’t even have to say anything but just your presence can shine light in someone’s darkest situation. You can bring a smile to someone’s face that is sad or salvation to someone’s soul who is lost in their sins. God called you to greatness with just the simplest things in life, being there for someone. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. For you are shining bright, a brilliant light, as magnificent as the marvelous light of Jesus Christ! This makes you the most valuable person in the world in Jesus Name…
